Here Be Dragons

Welcome to Draconic Dalhbay! My name is Michael Mejia and I have created this website as part of my journey as a writer. For too long, I have held myself back from fully achieving my dream of becoming a professional writer due to perfectionism. But as of today that changes with the launching of this site, imperfections and all. By doing this, I seek to remind others and myself that every journey has a rough beginning, and the only way to move forward is to embrace both the ugliness and uncertainty of it all.

As someone who doesn’t currently have any professional experience as a writer, my goal is to DIY my writing career here on this website. I plan to achieve this through a number of methods, among which includes: blogging, writing reviews for books/TV shows/movies/etc., and sharing short stories. Writing isn’t all I have to offer, though; I also like to create art on the side and intend to post my artwork here as well. And from there, I have so many other ideas for Draconic Dalhbay that the possibilities are endless!

You might be wondering why I referenced dragons in the post title. Even my website’s name is a reference to the magical creature (“draconic” in this case being an adjective meaning “dragon-like” rather than meaning “harsh, severe”). That’s because I am a huge fan of dragons and will gravitate towards anything that features them. It should come as no surprise that I am a huge fan of the fantasy genre, and thus the bulk of my content will focus on fantasy media. That said, I am open to exploring media of other genres on here too so keep an eye out for that content if you’re interested!

All in all, I think it goes without saying that the vision I have for Draconic Dalhbay has yet to fully be defined. I believe that’s okay, though. Every story written started off as a vague idea that only became realized through hard work and dedication to the craft, and this website is no different. I like to think that this blog post is like the first word written on a blank piece of paper, the first splash on paint on an empty canvas, or even the first step into unknown lands. Here be dragons indeed.
